What a surprise! Plex will be releasing D.P.C.F Naruto. This will the first D.P.C.F outside their One Piece franchise. It is based on the classic Naruto when he was still young and the team 7 were still together. Plex will probably continue their releases for the whole team 7 as shown on the illustration where it is based from. For now, we'll just get to see the unpainted prototype of Naruto which is actually enough to get me excited.
For those who don't know, D.P.C.F. is a product line by Plex. It stands for Door Painting Collection Figure. All the previous releases were based from One Piece and in 1/7 scale. I am not into collecting One Piece DPCFs so I usually ignore any announcement about it. I am not a fan of these alternate costumes and besides, there are enough good POPs to choose from. But don't get me wrong, based on their past releases, these DPCFs are high quality figures, that's why this Naruto release announcement gets me excited.
As opposed to my reasons as why am I not into collecting One Piece DPCFs, this time, Naruto DPCF is based on the illustration from the Naruto manga chapter 15 colored spread entitled "The Sharingan Revived!" as shown below. It is the team 7's appearance during their fight with Zabuza. There aren't too many good 1/8 or 1/7 scale figures of Naruto releases, most of them were low quality figures from Banpresto and some small gashapon collectibles. The only one that I am satisfied of is Bandai's non-scaled Figuarts ZERO - Naruto, which is quite small but good enough.
DPCF Naruto is still shown on its unpainted prototype stage but we can already see how great it was sculpted and how dynamic and stylish his pose would be. This is how Naruto should be immortalized. I believe it won't be too long till we see the colored prototype and the announcement of the rest of the team, Kakashi, Sasuke and Sakura. Can't wait for it.
