I never thought that we will be feasting with our eyes so soon with these official photos of the three new Figuarts ZEROs. We just broke the news for the upcoming release of these three figures about two weeks ago. Today, Bandai Tamashii Nations has already unveiled the official photos of Figuarts ZERO of Dressrosa editions of Luffy (a.k.a. Gladiator Lucy), Robin and Doflamingo. And I must say, I am totally happy as well as excited on these three figures. I'll just share some few thoughts about them.
Figuarts ZERO - Gladiator Lucy
Gladiator Lucy looks cool, capturing the essence of Luffy's gladiator looks while being in disguise as Lucy. My only nitpick is that he is in his signature wide-open-raised-arms pose which is basically the same as the New World ver. even the facial expression. They could have used some other pose like punching the ground or looking mad and ready for battle look. But if you just forget about the New World ver. at the moment and just look at this figure, it's looks really nice in it's own way. The coloring and design pattern of his upper vest, the helmet, the beard & mustache, & the cape, very true to the anime/manga. I like how the cape flows at his back. He also comes with his strawhat hidden under another black hat. There's clearly a lot of things that separates this form the New World ver. Perhaps this was designed specifically to be displayed to go along with the New World ver., showing us how the Figuarts ZERO line improved.
Figuarts ZERO - Nico Robin (Dressrosa Edition)
Robin is simple but so gorgeous here. I was happy when they announced this release and I already decided to get it no matter how it looks like, thinking it would be a lot better than the New World ver and the Film Z ver. I am astounded on how lovely the figure turns out. It's beyond my expectations.Bandai never cease to amaze me on how they sculpt female Figuarts ZEROs. They made a simple black dress look pretty by giving it a lot of dynamic fabric physics, while clearly showing all of Robin's physical assets. They gave her hair a translucent edges too. I was just expecting her to have that large bonnet, but that's not really important as long as the figures looks perfect. I just don't remember seeing Robin in this pose. More like a pin-up girl pose, but nevermind that. Let's just say she's modelling for something and I really love it. If this is a 1/8th scale, I say it's the best Robin figure ever.
Figuarts ZERO - Donquixote Doflamingo (Dressrosa Edition)
I can't be more wrong when I thought that Doflamingo will be a special edition recolor of hist first Figuarts ZERO. Doflamingo looks really badass (forgive the word) in this figure. Very dynamic pose. It's more like a Battle ver. to me, just minus the effect parts, (no one can see his strings anyway). You can see that his arms streched out and his fingers doing his devil fruit attack. His pink feathered coat is flowing in air as well as his open vest, showing his muscular body. The face has that smiling-but-mad Doflamingo expression as you can see the veins in his forehead. A really awesome Figuarts ZERO edition of Joker.Sadly, Doflamingo is a Tamashii Web Exclusive just like Issho Fujitora. This will be a limited edition as usual which is not a good news for us outside Japan. We again had to rely of third party resellers and pay more than it's retail price.
Check out the details of these three figures below.

Figuarts ZERO - Nico Robin (Dressrosa Edition)

Figuarts ZERO - Donquixote Doflamingo (Dressrosa Edition) Tamashii Web Exclusive

Preorders for Figuarts ZERO - Donquixote Doflamingo (Dressrosa Edition) will open next Friday, 25th of July 2014 at 16:00 JST. Being a Tamashii Web Exclusive, this in only available for those in Japan. Outside Japan, we'll have to find some third party resellers. As you noticed, the price for Doflamingo is really steep, 5,500 yen to be exact. Add some reseller profit and charging you shipping fees, it would easily go to the POP pricing territory. Good luck with that. I hope I can get this at a great deal. It would really look nice next to Figuarts ZERO - Issho Fujitora and hopefully a future release of Figuarts ZERO - Trafalgar Law Dressrosa Edition
As for Gladiator Lucy and Robin, you can sit back and relax, knowing that the two is a regular release and isn't too pricey. Just your average Figuarts ZERO prices. These are Mugiwara's we're talking about, so I would gladly pay for that price, specially if the final production releases looks close to what we are seeing in these photos. As a long time Figuarts ZERO collectors, we all know that there's a lot of case whereby final production release looks crappy. I hope that's not the case here. Crossing fingers for that, holding my breath and hoping for more Dressrosa Figuarts ZEROs
