Hot Toys: Iron Man 3 - 1/6th Scale War Machine Mark II Movie Masterpiece

I guess everyone have seen this coming. Iron Man 3 - 1/6th Scale War Machine Mark II Movie Masterpiece "Diecast" has been announced by Hot Toys via their official website and Facebook Page. While it is launched as a completely new product, it is actually a recolored Iron Man 3 - 1/6th Scale Iron Patriot Movie Masterpiece "Diecast", or perhaps the other way around as it is in the movie.

I know some of you who have already seen the Iron Man 3 movie are saying that the War Machine Mark II does not even appear in the movie. Well, there is a comic book entitled Marvel's Iron Man 3 Prelude Vol 1 Issue #1 and Issue #2 that was released last January 2013 and February 2013 respectively. The story takes place partly during the events of The Avengers and after, in between it and the story of Iron Man 3. This is where the Iron Man 3 version of War Machine appeared before it is recolored as the Iron Patriot. Don't be confused by its Mark II name, it is not actually the original Iron Man Mark II that Rhodes stole from Stark (which was remodeled by Hammer Industries into War Machine Mark I). This is a totally new War Machine armor that was designed by Tony Stark himself and properly calibrated for Rhodey.

So even if it wasn't in the movie, it is actually a part of the Iron Man 3 story-line. You don't need to love an Iron Man armor just because it appears in the movie. You'll just have to be amazed by its totally awesome appearance. And that's what we're seeing here. War Machine looks way better than the Iron Patriot color scheme. The only problem I have is that it only comes with few accessories.

And yeah, a lot of Hot Toys collectors are even whining about too many Iron Man Hot Toys releases. For me, I don't see any problem with too many Iron Man Hot Toys. These Iron Man armors are the best Hot Toys releases actually. No offensive visible joints, no huge stitches on the clothes that makes it lose its sense of scaling, no synthetic hair, no doll-like appearance like some other Hot Toys releases (yeah I'm looking at you Black Widow).

Update (2013-04-30): Expected release date is on 1st quarter of 2014 for 37,000 yen.

Update (2013-05-01): Preorders are now up at Amiami, HLJ, Hobby Search, Animarket and Figmation. And as usual, Figmation beats the pricing of every Hot Toys seller out there :)
