Tamashii Nation 2012 - One Piece Figuarts ZERO

Tamashii Nation 2012 event has already come to an end yesterday and there were lots of surprises and new figures to look forward to. Unfortunately, some figures were marked "Do not photograph" like these new One Piece Figuarts ZEROs. But apparently, some true One Piece fans uses their pirate instincts and took these shots which made its way to the internet. Event organizers cannot contain the excitement of these avid fans as they break the rules.

I have waited too long till they release the official photos of these, but it seems that they aren't showing these officially to the web anytime soon. So I'll take this opportunity to get these literally "stolen shots" and show them to you.

Being stolen shots, these photos aren't so clear and some are totally blurry, so please forgive me. But at least you can have a good idea on how these figures look like and quench your anxiety. But once the official photos of these figures were made available, I'll make sure to post those here on this site. So for now, let's take a look of the photos, shall we...

Earlier, I gave you a list of what new character figures they will be showing on the event and it's totally accurate.

Punk Hazard Characters

This is the first time that Bandai made characters for Figuarts ZERO that hasn't appeared yet in the anime. These two are characters from Punk Hazard Arc which is still an on-going arc in the manga. It immediately follows the Fishman Island Arc which is then the current on-going arc in the anime. Punk Hazard Arc will probably start in the anime early next year (hopefully, not too many fillers before that) so we can say that these two characters would appear in the anime by that time.
  • Trafalgar Law (Shichibukai ver) - this shot is blurry but we can still see the figure. The design is as expected but the pose is just too plain. The only thing that will make this figure stand out is the painting application on the black coat. We can't see the paint clearly, but the fabric folds and wrinkles looks nice with subtle paint effects. Let's wait for a better view before we can judge. But anyway, the character is so popular that fans would buy this even if the final product sucks (let's hope not).
  • Master Caesar Clown - this figure is completely made out of clear effect parts showing him in gas form which is his logia ability. Bandai is playing it safe since Caesar Clown's color scheme is not yet fully revealed in the manga. They should have made half of his body normal or at least the head like he's just in the middle of the transformation. This might be an initial prototype though, and final changes will be made before the release, so let's see later. But I believe this is not going to be released anytime soon. They will probably wait until he shows up in the anime, same is true with Trafalgar Law (Shichibukai ver)

Baroque Works Characters

Great to see these Baroque Works characters since they don't have too many figures except for Bon Kurei. Will we see Nefertari Vivi as Miss Wednesday some time later? Or maybe just Vivi?
  • Mr. 1 Daz Bones - I think the shot above (with Caesar Clown) is better. Anyway, his fingers looks long and pointy which means he will be showing his devil fruit ability. I like the body sculpt but he looks small next to Bon Kurei.
  • Mr. 2 Bon Kurei - great pose with very funny expression. Great to see him join the Figuarts ZERO line-up
  • Mr 3. Galdino - another character that wasn't given too much attention by the figure makers despite of being an important character on the War of Marineford. I didn't like the pose and he also looks small next to Bon Kurei.
  • Miss Goldenweek - looks like there's something in her mouth, a biscuit maybe. I like the pose though.

Eleven Supernovas

Seems like Bandai is trying to compete with MegaHouse if not going along with their figure popularity. MegaHouse's POP - Eustass Kidd and Killer were announced for December release as a follow-up to previously released Supernovas, POP - Jewelry Bonney and POP - Trafalgar Law. And now here is Bandai, announcing a series of their own Supernovas releases for their Figuarts ZERO. Figuarts ZERO wins in terms of speed of release frequency and character range. Though it is really not fair to compare POP and Figuarts ZERO because of the big difference in size, quality and cost.
  • Capone Bege - the photo is shot too far away so we can't really see him clearly
  • Trafalgar Law - this is an older release (April 2011), the first supernova to be made into Figuarts ZERO, aside from Luffy of course. I was wondering if this will be re-released because I wasn't able to get him (nor the POP version). The cost of this figure is three times as much as the original nowadays.
  • Monkey D. Luffy - another older release (November 2010). I also wish this would be re-released.
  • X Drake - again, the photo is shot too far away so we can't really see him clearly. The pose looks cool though
  • Jewelry Bonney - there is a clear shot below
  • Basil Hawkins - there is a better shot below
  • Urouge - there is a better shot below
  • Killer - there is a clear shot below
  • Eustass Kid - another older release (August 2011). This is still available on Hobbylink Japan
  • Roronoa Zoro - this is actually the Battle ver. which was released recently (June 2012). I wish they would release a version that is made specially for the Eleven Supernovas collection, like with the clothes he is wearing during the Sabaody Achipelago arc.
  • Scratchmen Apoo - there is a better shot below

  • Jewelry Bonney - I really love this one, better pose than that of the POP version in my opinion as I didn't like the sitting pose. She is smirking with her teeth shown while frowning. Nice body sculpt. But where is the hat. Oh well, she would probably have an optional head with hat. This is a must get for me. Hopefully, the retail release won't look as bad as some recent releases. She is a February release by the way along with Killer and preorders will start on Thursday, 1st of November 2012 at 16:00 (JST).

  • Killer - not digging this one. After I have seen the awesome battle stance of the POP version, this one looked lame. Why not a battle stance, Bandai? He doesn't look like a killer this way. And I never knew that his blades has a mobile phone functionality :)

  • Basil Hawkins - another one of my favorite here. The left arm is so cool with his devil fruit powers. I just wish the other hand has is holding a card. A must get for me unless MegaHouse would announce a better looking POP.
  • Urouge - a little blurry but we can see the awesome body sculpt. Nice to see that manly look with skirts. And that grin adds up to the awesomeness. Also a must get for me unless MegaHouse would announce a better looking POP.

  • Eustass Kid - nothing to say here since this is an older release. It's one of those great looking Figuarts ZERO though.
  • Roronoa Zoro (Battle ver.) - I already have this and it totally rocks. One of the best Figuarts ZERO. If you haven't got this one yet, I recommend that you do if you are a Figuarts ZERO collector or just a Zoro fan while it is still available on some online shops. And don't forget Mihawk (Battle ver) as these two figures were made to go together.
  • Scratchmen Apoo - kinda weird pose, doesn't look like he's doing his DJ thing, it's like he is playing with a puppet. I'm not a fan of the character so I might skip this one. Nice colors though

Flashback Character

If you would count the first Figuarts ZERO - Shanks as a flashback character, then this will the second one. But last year, they have shown us Dr. Hiluluk, but it is still not released. And also, Sogeking, Ryuma, and Zeff. I wonder if those were cancelled.
  • Makino and Luffy - unfortunately too blurry, this is the best photo that I can get. The two characters looks so cute though

Film Z versions

As expected, all the Mugiwaras will have the Film Z treatment. This leaves me thinking if I'm going to complete this or just wait for the POP. What are MegaHouse's plans for POP Film Z.

  • Monkey D. Luffy - a second version of Film Z Luffy, the first being the Kessen Costume ver. This one basically looks like the his appearance from the poster.
  • Roronoa Zoro - he is so cool on this outfit and pose. If I were to choose only one, I'll be getting this
  • Nami - Nice pose for Nami. She still looks sexy with all that armor.
  • Usopp - the pose is as expected. Got a lot of nice details.
  • Sanji - Nice coat, I love this one also.
  • Tony Tony Chopper - the second Chopper Film Z. So cute as well
  • Nico Robin - I have been waiting for this one but somehow, something is not right with the chest part. I need to see this closer and from some other angles.
  • Franky -  the pose is also as expected. Looks huge with nice body sculpt
  • Brook - funny pose and nice color scheme.

  • Ain and Luffy (Kessen Costume ver.) - December 2012 Release
  • Zetto and Chopper (Opening Clothes ver) - January 2012 Release

Tony Tony Chopper Seven Transformation Stage

It's nice to see all the seven transformation stage in together and would be released as one series. I'm planning to get them all. I wonder if MegaHouse has the same collection series for their POP. So far they have two POP Sailing Again versions, one normal (which may also be called the brain point) and one Kung Fu point. The Kyupin ver (the one with the starry eyes) doesn't count. All they recently do is release Chopperman POPs which is so annoying.

  • Normal Chopper? (top-left) - Not sure what this is, but it looks like a normal Chopper holding something (not a stick). Can someone tell me what's written in Japanese behind him.
  • Kung Fu Point (top-right) - a very dynamic pose, a lot better that the POP version, looks more Kung Fu
  • Heavy Point (bottom-left) - one of my favorite, funny and cool at the same time. I like the sculpt
  • Walk Point (bottom-right) - a cute real reindeer Chopper

  • Guard Point (top-left) - not a very fan of this one, but since I'm planning to get all, should get it also
  • Monster Point (top-right) -  He isn't so scary here. I can understand that all other form should be cute but this is a monster. They should have made his pose more battle-ish and scary as a monster would be. He is so huge though, this will probably cost as much as a regular POP.
  • Horn Point (bottom-left) - another one of my favorite, soo cool!
  • Brain Point (bottom-right) - this must be the brain point. It is actually a normal Chopper, the only difference is that he is holding a book.

That's all. Hopefully, they would release those official photos on the web soon so we can get a good look a these figures. Figuarts ZEROs are nice collectibles. Just sad that recent releases have a very poor quality. But considering the price, it's quite affordable so it won't hurt your budget that much.
