One of the biggest events for anime figure industry was held last Sunday, 10th of February 2013 at Makuhari Messe International Exhibition, Chiba City in Japan. As usual, fans of MegaHouse's POP was waiting for new product prototype unveiling, but unfortunately, there were no new surprises aside from those previously announced but now colored prototypes.
It must be expected I suppose, since it was just less than two months ago when MegaHouse revealed these new prototypes during the Jump Festa 2013 event. So let's just check out what POPs MegaHouse have brought to the event.
POP Neo-DX - Red Haired Shanks
First we got the red-haired Yonko himself. We've seen the uncolored prototype before, now we're looking at him in full color. I love the character and really love how this POP turns out. Nothing much to say about the coloring though since Shanks actually has just a very simple clothing and design. But look how those ripples on his clothes stand out with those fine shading, simply amazing. I wanted to see more clear shots on different angles.
I'm definitely getting this POP, in-fact, I already got POP Neo-DX Benn Beckman to go along with this. But here's the problem, POP Neo-DX - Shanks will be released on July 2013 for 8,400 yen. No problem with the pricing, but the thing is that it will be released on the same month as POP SA-Maximum - Armored Franky. That's not a good thing for us getting both Shanks and Franky. It's like paying for three POPs at the same time. Great MegaHouse, really great!
But we really can't do anything about it, right? After all, we're the one asking for these. We should be seeing the preorder announcement next month. It would probably be on the 6th or 13th of March.
POP Neo-DX - Kalifa
The lovely Kalifa now also appears in fully colored prototype. The soap bubbles effect parts can now be seen clearly. Nice black dress, very CP9-ish. Very interesting dress design with those nets on the chest and the legs.Totally sexy from head to toe. Hair color is also nice. The face is really attractive, but I think I prefer her expression to be more serious to look more CP9-ish. I don't think she will come with an alternate head/facial expression though.
I'm also worried about her pose. With only one foot to support the whole body, it has a tendency to lean backwards or forward after sometime. I think would be better if she is just posed in a simple standing position. But anyway, that won't be a deal-breaker for me, I already have Rob Lucci so this is going to be my second CP9 POP.

POP Neo-DX - Gol. D. Roger
The pirate king is also looking nice in colors. It wasn't too exciting for me though since that look and face has been stucked on my mind since I started watching One Piece as he usually appears on the opening of every episode. But that does not mean that I don't like this POP. It got the facial features and overall appearance of Gol. D. Roger.
I just don't prefer him posed like this with gun and sword, that's not how everyone remembers him. I prefer the pose that was shown during the Jump Festa 2013, with shackles and ready to be executed. Though with this pose, he can be displayed along with Edward Newgate vol. 0 side-by-side, reminding us about their time together as rivals. I'll probably just get this one.

POP Neo-EX LIMITED - Edward Newgate ver. 0
And the last prototype in colors, Whitebeard. At first I thought this was a new mold and about the size of POP Neo-DX - Gol D. Roger, but it turns out that this is actually the same size and mold as the previously released POP Neo-DX - Edward Newgate. The only difference is the head. They just made him look younger, with hair and grinning expression just like Roger.
It looks nice but I think they should have made a new mold with a better pose. But anyway, I don't have have a very big problem with this as I don't have the POP Neo-DX - Edward Newgate yet. I just hope they will release this with an alternate older version head so that I will have options whether to display him along with Roger or join the war of marineford with Luffy and Ace.

POP Edition-Z - Sanji
Sadly, no further POP Film Z versions announced and the last one that was previously announced is not yet painted. I was kinda hoping more of Edition-Z POPs. I wanted to see the whole crew in their Film Z outfits. Not that I haven't seen them in those outfit yet, but I wanted to see how would they look in POP form.
